FUTURE

The Infinity Society would like to see a world in which humanity has the
resources, will and wisdom required to protect our planet and all its life-forms
from the peril of celestial objects (such as meteors, meteorites, and comets)
which could cause human civilization a severe and possibly irreversible
collapse, a mass extinction or a total annihilation of all life! The Infinity Society
would like to live in a world that is finally able and willing to spend more
resources and time exploring the universe, outer-space and other worlds than
forced to spend hundreds of billions of dollars worth on weapons! The Infinity
Society would like to live in a world that is relatively mentally and physically
healthy, in which the rights of the human individual are truly respected without
dis-respecting the rights of groups to freely associate, where no one is taken
advantage of, exploited, threatened or harmed because of their way of life,
their background or their associations (i.e., where no one is discriminated
against or disenfranchised because of their religion, lack of religion, their race
or mix, their ethnic identity or lack thereof, their complexion, their age, gender,
challenged status, sexual orientation, sexual identity, sexual preference or lack
thereof, their non-violent political views or their legitimately obtained
socio-economic status), where unity-through-diversity, tolerance of the
tolerant, and guaranteed protected and encouraged freedom of expression
and speech are the rule and not the exception, where ignorance and
unscientific narrow-minded, short-term-oriented and shallow thinking are the
exception and not the rule, where wisdom, love, honesty and truth are truly
valued, respected and appreciated, where philosophers, poets and other
creative thinkers, artists and doers are common and encouraged, where all
individual's uniqueness and sense of creative identity are encouraged, where
extreme poverty, hate, crime, corruption and war are rarely if ever
experienced, where each human being can find enough time to deal with the
natural pains and sufferings that the natural world of growth will always have
without having to waste time, energy and life on pain and suffering caused by
ignorance and the hate, intolerance, extreme fear, excessive stress, war,
crime and corruption caused by such severe lack of wisdom. The Infinity
Society would like to live in a world where virtually everyone understands that
science has an invaluable purpose, but that because it can only measure and
explore physical things and properties it cannot prove or disprove the
existence of that which is (by logic) non-physical, spiritual and which probably
makes up what we sense as soul(s) and G-D. Furthermore, The Infinity
Society is neither for nor against religion, and would prefer that government
and religion remain healthily separated and that the rights of spiritual
non-religious persons and atheists be equally respected and protected. The
Infinity Society includes people who are religious and/or spiritual, as well as
those who are agnostic, doubting and atheistic, because no one can have a
monopoly on non-physical truth(s), no one person is G-D, G-D may have
nothing directly to do with the direct creation of the physically imperfect, and
G-D could not possibly be religious or prefer one religion over another
(supposing G-D exists, is all Loving and Truthful, and is spiritually eternal,
everlasting, perfect and indestructible). The Infinity Society tends to be
scientific and spiritual but not religious and superstitious, and as such agrees
that religion is best kept as a personal choice and right of conscience and not
as a competitive group effort at world domination and/or a divisive force
against the rights and responsibilities of the individual human being. The
Infinity Society is also scientific and spiritual in its ethics and political leanings,
preferring moderation, practical and pragmatic politics, such as that which is
common to those who would call themselves social-democratic, democratic,
progressive, liberal, libertarian, moderate republican and
socially-environmentally conscious capitalists. The Infinity Society is opposed
to extremism, especially that which advocates violence and violent political
change (in situations where there is relative democracy), extreme left-wing
and extreme right-wing political (thus closed-society-based) ideologies,
including Fascism, Nazism, Communism, and other
anti-democratic,anti-humanist, anti-individualist political and
socio-philosophical movements and ideas. The Infinity Society is also
opposed to behavior that is disrespectful and harmful of the rights of minors
and animals, and while strongly supportive of the rights of consenting adults
(of virtually all kinds of life-styles, orientations and identities), it would like the
world to be a place in which intimacy is between people of the same level of
maturity and is based always upon love (at least some kind of loving affection
and respect) and responsible consideration and caring.

When people exploit the weaknesses and vulnerabilities of others they not
only harm those people's lives in seriously damaging ways but they also harm
the overall welfare and rights to happiness and fulfillment of the rest of society!
The Infinity Society understands that while some basic moral values, ethics
and principles are fundamental to the overall health of society, people can
also go too far in imposing their preferences (often born of their own
insecurities), which is equally wrong and harmful. Examples of the latter:
prostitution is wrong but some form of "Geisha"-like female or male
entertainer who has the true free-will option to be or not be more intimate is a
reasonable alternative; abortions are often terrible things and the knowledge
and means should be provided to avoid unplanned pregnancies, but
prohibiting those whose religious or other views do not forbid such is equally
wrong, especially when either the life of the mother is at risk or the yet unborn
living being is not truly loved by the mother; chemical abuse is unhealthy and
dangerous as well as a threat to the overall welfare of society but more harm
is caused by failing to deal with this problem as a health problem and making
the criminality of it unprofitable to criminals and corrupt officials; sexual
behavior must never come at the expense of those who are not mature
enough to consent to such relations, but dictating what is and what is not
sexually correct to mature consenting adults is offensive and one of the
greatest threats to human freedom one can possibly imagine!!!

If we do not strive to make the future a wiser and safer world then it will
become a world overwhelmed by greed and paranoia, a New Dark Ages
which will rapidly descend into global chaos and self-destruction. Religion
cannot save us, nor can political atheism, only scientific spiritualism and true
democracy! Too many people today do not comprehend (understand) how
mass phenomena effect works and how if even a significant minority of
people feel no obligation to be socially and environmentally conscious and
considerate then, eventually, the mass phenomena effect of such selfish
(ignorant) anti-social, anti-environmental behavior will bring us all down! When
the world is run behind the scenes by lonely, paranoid and unhappy people
then all human civilization is at risk and thus it is the fundamental responsibility
of all intellectuals and academics to explain mass phenomenology and how
things accumulatively work and can easily spiral out of control! Just as we are
faced with the danger of mass extinction from a non-terrestrial source so we
are faced with total global paranoia and meltdown that will, given the
dangerous chemicals, biological agents and other destructive technologies at
hand, definitely destroy us all! Furthermore, The Infinity Society wonders why
governments in areas where flooding is common don't encourage the use of
large barges upon which to build homes and businesses??? After all, it may
even less expensive to make homes and stores flood survivable than to build
massive and expensive barriers!?! Given the increasing risk of coastal and
river flooding throughout the world (no thanks to global warming) we see no
logical reason why such an idea should not be taken into serious
consideration. Only wise and creative people have the ideas and know-how to
save humanity and the rest of our fragile, interdependent world. (What is your
opinion??).

Because so many social and environmental problems are being dealt with, if
at all, in such extremely unscientific and non-creative, non-multidisciplinary
ways The Infinity Society is compelled to apply its general scientific, spiritual
and thus philosophic position to these issues, while acknowledging that though
most of its members are in agreement, some few disagree with these stances
and are free to express such minority views herein (at present no one has yet
asked, but we will never hesitate to publish such views herein if they are
expressed in a manner which is not an incitement to riot or threatening to the
lives of others). Freedom of expression and free speech have obvious
implied limits in order to maintain themselves as such!!! We sincerely
encourage any arguments to the contrary of anything we state and invite you
to write to us regularly!
