This plan was deliberately naive and idealistic. I figured if you want 100 ask 1000.
Then Labor Party Leader Shimon Peres sent me a very brief letter concerning my
Peace Plan, in which he said "I am afraid that there is no chance that your plan would
be accepted by all parties concerned." Which, in of itself, showed that he liked some of
it. I got a few other responses, including one from then P.M. John Majors of The U.K.,
but none came from any of the Arab leaders, except a few minor Palestinian intellectual
leaders, like the late Edward Said. It was a bit Avant-Garde, I admit.
My current stance is that only two separate states, one being Israel and the other a
Palestinian State, living side by side in relative peace, will allow for lasting peace to
become reality. A Federal model like that of Switzerland is now impossible, and even
then, I knew it was highly unlikely! But I figured that such an idealistic proposal might
inspire enough creative thinking on both sides so as to bring about positive results.
The events of 9-11-2001 and since show that there are still too many people on all
sides and here in America who do not think enough about the Big Picture, about how
infinite space-time is and how fragile our little planet is and how we should stop
fighting wars and destroying precious lives. Unfortunately even serious peace-making
involves the need to be able to threaten to use military force, if all else fails! But while
the threat of military force is an unfortunate necessity of our times it must never be
made without first truly putting enough effort behind diplomatic efforts! Both extremes
are wrong. Those who are convinced violence works and those who are convinced
peace without the threat of violent force is possible.
The Neo-Con idea of Preemptive Attacks is wrong, especially in a world that is already
so extremely dangerous! And ignoring to form international alliances to put pressure
on rogue and threatening states is also extremely dangerous!
To truly win in The Global Fight Against Terrorists we need to use small, ultra-hi-tech,
pin-point-accurate, surgical strike forces and technologies. The days of conventional
military invasions in any supposed effort to rid the world of sick terrorists are over!
Fight smart, make friends!
For these reasons and more I support American political leaders like Senator Joe
Biden and General Wesley Clark. They are relatively wise, intelligent and serious
people and we need more of their kind in US political reality and less of the kind of
people like Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and Cheney (these war-profiteering fear-mongering
hawks need to retire and leave aAffairs of State to gentlemen like Biden and Clark.
